Summary
Ellie Mental Health, with 400+ clinics opening nationwide, is on track to become the largest mental health care provider in the country. Our collaboration with Ellie began right on the cusp of this explosive growth, when they asked us to give their identity and website a refresh ahead of franchising. Their goal, they told us, was to take the playful spirit that made the original 16 Minnesota clinics so successful and translate it to a national audience.

The Institute for Integrative Therapies (IIT) was founded by therapists and physicians who saw Psychedelic Therapy as a breakthrough in mental health treatment. When they approached us to create their identity, they asked that it contrast with pop-culture portrayals of psychedelics as well as the sterile aesthetic of medical-model therapy clinics. Our goal, then, was to create something warm and natural while also communicating the Institute’s dedication to the roots of clinical psychotherapy.

The use of film photography and classic typography underscore the Institute’s grounding in traditional psychotherapy. The nature imagery, organic illustrations, and glyph-like graphic elements speak to the incredible creative potential of psychedelics and set IIT apart aesthetically from its medical-model counterparts.

In their eyes, the transformative nature of psychedelics came from its ability to get people un-stuck from patterns of thought and behavior that they felt trapped in. So we created the ‘Reset Your Mind, Restart Your Life’ Campaign for print + social.

Capturing the Northwoods
Wanting to infuse the identity with a sense of place, we started by producing a series of medium format film photographs of Minnesota’s iconic Superior Northshore. From there, we built the brand’s color system using hues from the photographs.
The challenge with the website was to convey the brand’s unique aesthetic while ensuring navigation and information elements were familiar and easy to understand. We addressed this by keeping the layout simple and using pops of color and graphic to direct clients to pertinent information.
